On these programs, international high school students come to the United States over the summer with the goal of improving their English and getting to know American culture. A primary responsibility of the contracted coordinator is recruiting and interviewing 11+ volunteers from within their local community to host students, months before the group arrives. This is an ideal opportunity for teachers with summers or other fixed periods of time off.

Note: This contracted opportunity is an independent contractor and not an employee of Greenheart International or any of its branches.

  • Providing necessary support to students and host families
  • Communicating updates of the program to the national office.
  • Ensuring timely submission of host family applications, evaluations, and other relevant paperwork in accordance with contractual deadlines.

Some qualifications you should have:

In order to recruit host families, contracted coordinators must be willing and able to spend a considerable amount of personal time promoting the program to the local community in the months before students arrive. These independent contracted coordinators should feel comfortable approaching schools, churches, organizations, and individuals in order to identify suitable hosts.

The ideal independent contractor is highly organized, resourceful, connected to their community (have lived in the same community at least 3 years). They must also be previously trained in managing a budget and working with students from other countries.
